A vast field of connected luminous consciousness before the Machine

Before There Were Names

Before bodies, borders and assigned histories, every living consciousness was distinct—and none existed alone.

They existed as light: not the light of a sun or an electric sky, but consciousness itself. Every being was unique, yet each remained connected to the whole. They remembered where they came from. They remembered one another. Most importantly, they remembered what they were.

There was no hierarchy between the connected and the individual. Difference did not require separation. A thought could remain entirely your own while its resonance moved through the living field around you. Nothing needed a name in order to be known.

Then something happened. Some recovered fragments call it The Fall. Others describe an invasion from beyond known existence. Syndicate Z has found evidence of a more disturbing possibility: the beings may have participated in their own undoing.

Whatever the truth, the result was the same. The light did not disappear from the universe. It went out inside them. The Machine would later bury this first memory beneath bodies, nations, species and names—but Origin remains the contradiction it can never completely erase.

They remembered where they came from. Then the light went out—inside them.
