The Man the System Cannot Measure
A leaderless network begins collecting impossible memories—and one unmeasurable operative becomes its living legend.
The Machine calls Syndicate Z a terrorist organization. Those who find it discover a network with no capital, president or public headquarters: engineers, soldiers, thieves, scientists, workers and people who officially do not exist.
They call recovered memories Fragments. A Fragment may be a face, an ability never learned or seconds from a life that supposedly never happened. Collect enough and the world changes. You stop seeing only reality. You begin seeing the Machine underneath it.
No cell knows the whole network. That is not a weakness; it is the shape that lets the signal survive. Knowledge moves through dead frequencies, altered objects, dreams and people whose assigned lives never should have intersected.
Neave knows where memories are buried. He appears in surveillance feeds, railway platforms, reflections and rooms that should be empty. The Machine has given him hundreds of identities; he accepts none. When Syndicate Z measures his memory, the system returns only one answer: unknown.
You do not know me. That is the problem.
